President Lee Jae-myung Approves Three Major Special Prosecutor Laws

On June 10, President Lee Jae-myung presided over a Cabinet meeting at the Presidential Office in Yongsan, where he announced the approval of three significant special prosecutor laws: the 'Insurrection Special Prosecutor Law', the 'Kim Geon-hee Special Prosecutor Law', and the 'Fallen Marine Special Prosecutor Law'.
President Lee stated, 'These special prosecutor laws have been rejected multiple times by the previous administration, and we have thoroughly gathered opinions from current Cabinet members before reaching this decision. This is the first legislative action of the Lee Jae-myung administration, reflecting the will of the people.'
As a result, a special prosecutor will be launched to investigate former President Yoon Suk-yeol and his wife, Kim Geon-hee, who declared a state of emergency last December. Three special prosecutors will simultaneously investigate various allegations raised during the Yoon administration, with a total of 120 prosecutors assigned to these cases.
