Police Launch Investigation into Lee Ha-nee's Tax Evasion Allegations

The Gangnam Police have initiated a preliminary investigation into actress 이하늬 (Lee Ha-nee) following allegations of tax evasion. On February 20, the police confirmed they received a complaint through the National Petition System requesting an investigation into her tax issues, as well as concerns regarding the funding sources for high-value real estate purchased by a company where she serves as an inside director. The police plan to interview relevant parties in accordance with legal protocols.

Previously, it was revealed that on February 17, Lee Ha-nee underwent a rigorous tax audit, resulting in a hefty tax penalty amounting to 6 billion KRW. In response, her agency, Team Hoff, issued a statement asserting that Lee has consistently fulfilled her tax obligations in compliance with the law and procedures, based on the advice of her tax representative. They clarified that the additional tax payment was due to differing perspectives between the tax authorities and her representative, and emphasized that there was no intentional tax evasion involved.
