Police Investigate Defamatory Graffiti Targeting Singer BoA in Seoul

Graffiti containing derogatory remarks about singer BoA has been discovered at various locations, including bus stops throughout Seoul, prompting a police investigation. On June 11, BoA's agency, SM Entertainment, released a statement confirming that they had received valuable reports from fans and conducted their own monitoring, which revealed multiple instances of graffiti publicly insulting the artist. After verifying the situation near Gangnam Station, they reported it to the authorities, and an investigation is currently underway. Additionally, they plan to file a formal complaint later today.
SM Entertainment stated, 'Posting false information that damages the character and reputation of our artist, as well as acts intended to publicly defame the artist, constitutes a clear criminal offense.' They emphasized their commitment to responding firmly and without leniency to such criminal acts.
Recently, fans have taken to social media to share their efforts in removing the offensive graffiti found on advertising boards at bus stops in the Gangnam area. Most of the graffiti discovered across the city contained sexually derogatory content aimed at BoA.
BoA debuted at the young age of 16 in 2000 and has since gained immense popularity with hit songs such as 'No.1,' 'Only One,' 'My Name,' and 'Girls on Top.'
