Police Decline to Prosecute FTISLAND's Choi Min-hwan Over Prostitution and Sexual Assault Allegations

The police have decided not to pursue charges against Choi Min-hwan (최민환), a member of the band FTISLAND, following allegations of involvement in prostitution and sexual assault against his wife. The Gangnam Police Station in Seoul announced today (November 29) that there was insufficient evidence to support the claims, leading to the conclusion of the case just 35 days after the allegations were made through the National Petition System.
Previously, Choi's ex-wife, Yulhee (율희), a former member of the girl group LABOUM, appeared on her YouTube channel on October 24, stating that Choi had engaged in prostitution in areas like Gangnam. She recounted an incident where, while drinking at home, he allegedly placed money on her chest and touched her inappropriately in front of family members.
Additionally, a recording of a phone conversation involving Choi was released, in which he reportedly expressed a desire to go out and asked if there were any women available.
A police spokesperson explained that they investigated the establishments linked to the prostitution allegations, including reviewing CCTV footage, but found no clear evidence. They stated that the procedural step of formally charging Choi was taken before deciding not to prosecute.
Choi Min-hwan and Yulhee were married in 2018 and have three children together, but they divorced in 2023.
