On the morning of December 8, 2024, the National Police Agency's National Investigation Headquarters, specifically the Security Investigation Division, executed a search warrant at the residence of former Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun, following previous searches at his official residence and the Defense Ministry office. This investigation is part of the ongoing probe into the 'December 3 Emergency Martial Law Incident,' which includes charges of insurrection. Early on the same day, the Special Investigation Department of the Prosecutor's Office summoned Kim for questioning, after which he was urgently arrested. The police have assembled a dedicated investigation team of over 120 members, led by Song Young-ho, the Security Investigation Officer of the National Investigation Headquarters, to expedite the inquiry. The National Investigation Headquarters is currently analyzing radio communications from police officers deployed at the National Assembly and those assigned to the Election Commission from the Gyeonggi Southern Police Agency.
