PlayV Countdown to Japanese Debut with New Single 'Kakurenbo'

The virtual idol group PlayV has officially kicked off the countdown to their debut in Japan. From May 13 to 15, the group unveiled the first concept photos for their upcoming Japanese debut single, 'Kakurenbo (かくれんぼ)', set to be released on June 16.
The six images shared feature both individual and group shots, set against the backdrop of a train, creating a nostalgic and warm atmosphere. Dressed in school-themed outfits with shirts, ties, and knits, PlayV exudes a charming high school vibe that has fans eagerly anticipating their debut.
Additionally, a mood teaser video released on their official YouTube channel showcases the members standing inside a moving train, gazing out the window. The mysterious visuals of the members holding onto the train's handrails spark curiosity about the new song's concept. The warm hues of the sunset outside, combined with the sweet melody of the upcoming track, enhance the immersive experience.
The title 'Kakurenbo' translates to 'Hide and Seek' in English and '숨바꼭질' in Korean. As PlayV's first single in Japan, it is expected to showcase a broader musical palette, allowing them to connect with their global fanbase.
On May 2, PlayV launched their official Japanese fan club, marking the beginning of their full-scale activities in Japan. They also started pre-orders for physical albums on various music sites on May 8, with the official release scheduled for July 9, followed by sequential shipping.
Comprising members Ye-jun, Noah, Bambi, Eun-ho, and Ha-min, PlayV debuted in March 2023 and has rapidly gained popularity in Korea and across Asia, becoming one of the most talked-about K-pop groups internationally. Notably, their second mini-album 'ASTERUM 134-1' topped the K-pop sales charts at Japan's HMV&BOOKS, further solidifying their influence in the region.
Their third mini-album 'Caligo Pt.1' achieved record-breaking streaming numbers on Melon within 24 hours, making them the only artist to simultaneously hold records for the fastest entry into the 'Billions Club' and the highest 24-hour streaming for a 'Millions Album'. They have also claimed multiple music show wins and made history by being the first virtual idol group to enter the Billboard Global 200 chart, showcasing their remarkable growth both domestically and internationally.
