PlayV Countdown to Japanese Debut with 'Kakurenbo'

The virtual idol group PlayV has officially kicked off the countdown to their debut in Japan. From May 13 to 15, the group unveiled the first concept photos for their upcoming Japanese debut single, 'Kakurenbo (かくれんぼ)', set to be released on June 16, through their official social media channels.

The released images include six photos featuring both individual members and group shots, all set against the backdrop of a train, creating a nostalgic and warm atmosphere. Dressed in school-themed outfits with shirts, ties, and knits, PlayV exudes a charming high school vibe that has generated excitement among fans.

Additionally, a mood teaser video shared on their official YouTube channel showcases the members standing inside a moving train, gazing out the window. The mysterious portrayal of the members holding onto the train's handrails adds intrigue to the concept of the new song. The warm and cozy colors of the sunset outside, combined with the sweet melody of the upcoming track, enhance the immersive experience.

The title 'Kakurenbo (かくれんぼ)' translates to 'Hide and Seek' in English and '숨바꼭질' in Korean. As PlayV's first Japanese single, it is expected to showcase a broader musical palette, allowing them to connect with their global fanbase.

On May 2, PlayV launched their official Japanese fan club, marking the beginning of their full-scale activities in Japan. They also started pre-orders for physical albums on various music sites on May 8, with the official release scheduled for July 9, followed by sequential shipping.

Comprising five members—Yejun, Noah, Bambi, Eunho, and Hamin—PlayV debuted in March 2023 and has rapidly gained popularity in Korea and across Asia, becoming one of the most talked-about K-pop groups both domestically and internationally. Notably, their second mini-album, 'ASTERUM 134-1', topped the K-pop sales charts at Japan's HMV&BOOKS, further solidifying their influence in the region.

Their third mini-album, 'Caligo Pt.1', achieved the highest streaming record within 24 hours among all albums released on Melon, making them the only artist to simultaneously hold records for the fastest entry into the 'Billions Club' and the highest 24-hour streaming for a 'Millions Album'. They have also secured multiple first-place wins on various music shows and made history as the first virtual idol group to enter the Billboard Global 200 chart, showcasing their remarkable growth across both domestic and international markets.
