Perfect Happy Ending for Yoo Yeon-seok and Chae Soo-bin in 'The Call'

In the finale of MBC's weekend drama 'The Call' (지금 거신 전화는), which aired on January 4, 2025, Yoo Yeon-seok (백사언) and Chae Soo-bin (홍희주) achieved a heartwarming happy ending after overcoming numerous challenges. The episode depicted the couple's transformation into a true partnership after enduring a tumultuous journey.

After Yoo Yeon-seok's character mysteriously disappeared, Chae Soo-bin's character spent six months searching for him. Her sister, Hong In-ah (한재이), urged her to move on, stating, "Forget him. He will never come back. No matter what I say, you won't listen. I just want you to be less hurt and happy."

Despite her sister's advice, Chae Soo-bin's character expressed her deep longing, saying, "What if he comes back? What if we miss each other? I still can't believe he’s gone. He was right there when I woke up in the hospital after being rescued. I need him so much. I miss him terribly."

The reason for Yoo Yeon-seok's departure was tied to a tragic event where his biological father, Baek Jang-ho (정동환), killed Chae Soo-bin's sister. In an attempt to atone for this, he became a negotiation expert in a distant war zone.

However, Chae Soo-bin's character refused to give up. In a dramatic turn, Yoo Yeon-seok rescued her from armed captors, expressing his emotional turmoil, saying, "Even when I left you, you were always on my mind. I never expected to see you here."

Chae Soo-bin confronted him, asking, "How much longer do I have to wait? We’ve spent more time misunderstanding each other than cherishing our love. If I have to keep waiting, how long will it take?"

Their reunion marked a new beginning. Yoo Yeon-seok later changed his name to Baek Yoo-yeon and declared, "I will divorce Hong Hee-joo, and I will marry you as Baek Yoo-yeon, not Baek Sa-eon."

The couple emerged stronger, now trusting each other completely. Yoo Yeon-seok continued his work as a negotiation expert alongside Park Do-jae (최우진), who had just been released from prison. Chae Soo-bin encouraged him to always call her, saying, "Make it feel like the first call every time," to which he tenderly replied, "I miss you."
