Park Soo Hong and Yang Se Hyung Team Up as Hosts for 'Our Baby is Born'

Park Soo Hong (박수홍), known for his doting father persona, and Yang Se Hyung (양세형), an expectant father, are set to co-host the new show 'Our Baby is Born' (우리 아기가 태어났어요). The press conference for the show took place on May 7 at the TV CHOSUN studio in Gasan-dong, Seoul, featuring the two hosts alongside producer Lee Seung Hoon (이승훈), director Kim Joon (김준), and writer Jang Joo Yeon (장주연).

Scheduled to premiere on May 9, 'Our Baby is Born' is the first variety show in South Korea to cover the birth of new life by visiting delivery rooms to celebrate and support families during childbirth. Producer Lee expressed the intention behind the show, stating, "In today's chaotic society, I wanted to create a program that offers congratulations and support. Reflecting on past experiences of filming childbirth, I realized there are few moments as touching and miraculous as these. This inspired the creation of 'Our Baby is Born.' I hope viewers see it as a heartfelt program where the hosts genuinely bless the newborns on their special day."

Both hosts are eager to showcase their unique perspectives. Park Soo Hong, who recently became a father, aims to share his heartfelt empathy and support. He humorously noted, "When my daughter turned six months old, I felt I had to do something. TV CHOSUN reached out to me during my desperate times, presenting the idea of a show where 'a baby is born every week.' I was skeptical at first, but they convinced me it was feasible. I appreciate their detailed proposal explaining why I was chosen as a host."

Recalling his first recording experience, Park shared, "I received a call in the early morning saying, 'A baby is coming.' I arrived at the scene in 20 minutes, and the baby had already been born. Thankfully, my daughter woke me up that morning, allowing me to participate in the recording. I gained a deeper understanding of the noble sacrifices women make during childbirth. It was a miraculous moment."

Yang Se Hyung, although unmarried, plans to approach the show with warmth and sincerity from the perspective of an expectant father. He remarked, "I wondered if I was suitable for this program since I’m not married and don’t have children yet. However, I realized that viewers of all ages would watch this show. I thought it would be beneficial to ask questions from a viewer's perspective, especially for those like me who are not yet parents. I’ve even cautiously imagined what it would be like when my own child is born."

Yang also humorously highlighted Park Soo Hong's doting father side, saying, "From the moment we started recording, my break time disappeared! He kept showing me pictures of his daughter. While sitting still can be considered a break, seeing him so genuinely happy and engaged made me realize that could be a true form of relaxation."

The show will also feature the childbirth journey of the couple Son Dam Bi (손담비) and Lee Gyu Hyuk (이규혁), as well as the story of 'archery queen' Ki Bo Bae (기보배), who welcomed her second child after seven years. Writer Jang noted, "Initially, we considered focusing on celebrity births for ratings, but through interviews, we realized the stories behind the childbirth experiences are what truly matter. We prioritized finding individuals with meaningful stories, regardless of their celebrity status. Lee Gyu Hyuk expressed that seeing his child was more fulfilling than any Olympic gold medal, and we’ve witnessed their journey as a couple evolve beautifully post-birth."

Jang also praised Ki Bo Bae and her husband, calling them an 'incredible couple,' noting, "Her husband takes pride in being the spouse of a national representative. Ki Bo Bae’s sentiment upon holding her child, saying 'Let’s be happy together,' embodies the essence of what our program aims to convey."

'Our Baby is Born' will air its first episode on May 9 at 10 PM on TV CHOSUN.
