Park So-dam and Park Won-sook Revealed to be Distant Relatives

It has recently come to light that actress Park So-dam (박소담) and veteran actress Park Won-sook (박원숙) are sixth cousins. On June 10, a representative from Park So-dam's agency, Artist Company, confirmed this familial connection, stating that Park Won-sook is a cousin of Park So-dam's grandfather, making them effectively grandchildren of the same ancestor.
The two actresses previously shared the screen in the 2015 film 'The Throne' (사도), where they did not disclose their family ties during filming. However, it has been reported that Park Won-sook has acted as a mentor to Park So-dam, offering guidance on her project choices and acting career.
The agency representative noted that in the early stages of Park So-dam's career, they kept their relationship under wraps to avoid any misconceptions about nepotism. Now, with Park So-dam having established herself in the industry, many within the entertainment circle are aware of their connection.
Park So-dam made her acting debut in 2013 with the film 'The Silenced' (더도 말고 덜도 말고) and has since appeared in various films including 'Innocent Witness' (잉투기), 'Madame Bbangdeok' (마담 뺑덕), 'Gyeongseong School: The Lost Girls' (경성학교 : 사라진 소녀들), 'Veteran' (베테랑), 'The Throne' (사도), and 'The Priests' (검은 사제들). She gained significant recognition for her role as Kim Ki-jung in Bong Joon-ho's acclaimed film 'Parasite' (기생충) in 2019.
