Park Seong-hoon Exits tvN's 'The Tyrant's Chef'
Actor Park Seong-hoon has officially departed from the upcoming tvN drama 'The Tyrant's Chef'. On January 11, the production company Studio Dragon announced that after extensive discussions, both the production team and Park Seong-hoon's representatives concluded that it would be difficult for him to continue with the project.
The statement further explained that both the actor and his agency had expressed their apologies regarding recent events and had been in close consultation about the situation. Ultimately, they decided to pursue their respective paths.
'The Tyrant's Chef' tells the story of a French chef who time-travels from the modern era to meet a tyrannical king known for his culinary expertise, exploring a love that transcends 500 years. Directed by Jang Tae-yoo, known for acclaimed works like SBS's 'Deep Rooted Tree' and 'My Love from the Star', the drama had generated significant anticipation, especially with the casting of Lim Yoon-a from 'King the Land' and Park Seong-hoon from 'Squid Game' Season 2.
However, Park Seong-hoon faced controversy after mistakenly uploading an adult video parody of 'Squid Game' on his personal social media, coinciding with a national mourning period that led to the cancellation of the first script reading. This sparked rumors of his exit from the drama.
In response, the production team clarified that the cancellation of the script reading was solely to honor the victims of the Jeju Air passenger plane tragedy and was not related to Park Seong-hoon's controversy. Following this, Park Seong-hoon publicly apologized during an interview for 'Squid Game 2' on January 8, expressing his remorse with tears.
