Park Ki-woong Opens Up About His Father's Passing Ahead of Art Exhibition

Actor and writer Park Ki-woong has shared his feelings one month after the passing of his father. On July 2, he posted on Instagram about his plans for a fourth exhibition titled 'Montage: Every Fairytale Needs a Great Villain,' set to open on July 31 at Art Chosun Space in Seoul. He revealed that he was in the final stages of preparation when his father tragically passed away in an accident on June 7.

Park expressed that all his plans were put on hold during this difficult time. While he was with his mother in the countryside for the traditional mourning period, he initially considered postponing the exhibition. However, he felt that his father would not have wanted that.

'My father valued promises,' he reflected, feeling as if his father was urging him to keep his commitment to the gallery. He stated, 'Mom, I’ll take care of this and come back soon. I want to do this well.' This exhibition marks the first time he will showcase sculptural works, created over eight months in collaboration with his father, who was an interior designer, and his younger brother, who has always had a greater artistic talent than him.

As he works on the pieces, Park often feels the presence of his father and brother, which brings him to tears. He admitted to feeling conflicted about whether he is being a good son or not. Despite the administrative tasks still left to handle, he is determined to complete this project, which he sees as both a first and last collaboration with his father. He wants to proudly show his father his accomplishments, saying, 'Dad, did I do well?'

Although it felt like his world had collapsed, he has come to realize that life continues. He reassured his followers that while his family is still in pain, they are moving forward and asked for their support during this time.

Park Ki-woong's father, Park In-hwan, passed away last month due to an accident, and the funeral was arranged two days later due to ongoing investigations. He is now laid to rest at Andong Memorial Park. Park Ki-woong recently appeared in the Dramax series 'Anyway, Thirty' and is also active as a painter.
