Park Jung-min Shares Insights from His Life as a Publisher on 'You Quiz on the Block'

In the latest episode of tvN's entertainment show 'You Quiz on the Block' (유 퀴즈 온 더 블럭), aired on June 11, actor Park Jung-min opened up about his experiences as the head of a two-person publishing company. He revealed that he works closely with his colleague, often leading to tasks being overlooked due to their tendency to assume each other would handle them. Park shared, "We often miss things because we think the other person will take care of it. My colleague gets frustrated, asking, 'Why didn't you say anything?' I’m used to working alone and don’t have a habit of sharing responsibilities, so it can get chaotic without a proper system in place."
He also introduced his colleague, Kim Ah-young, who has a background in brand marketing and is well-versed in the company’s operations. Park mentioned, "I’m actually struggling to pay her salary right now." The duo works in a small, open office without separate spaces, which adds to the unique dynamic of their collaboration. Kim explained how she came to work with Park, stating, "I had a chance to collaborate with him at my previous job, and it made me realize that this publishing house isn’t just about looking intellectual. I had initially aimed for a big corporation but ended up here at the right time."
Park expressed his admiration for Kim, saying, "The main reason I wanted to work with her is that she has always been incredibly supportive, day and night." He proudly shared that they maintain a seven-hour workday with flexible vacation and attendance policies, although he humorously noted, "Our benefits are great, but the problem is finding the time to use them." Kim chimed in, jokingly calling Park a 'jack of all trades' and lamenting, "There’s so much work to do, and when I’m around, it seems like nothing gets done because he keeps asking me to come in!"
