이번 수사는 경찰이 위성 통신 안테나 제조업체인 인텔리안 테크놀로지스의 전 임원 B의 계좌에서 거래 기록을 확보하고자 하면서 시작되었다. 하나증권은 관련 금융 거래 정보를 당국에 제공하였다. 전 지점장이 B에게 영장 발부에 대한 정보를 전달한 것으로 보인다. B와 다른 이들은 2021년 인텔리안 테크놀로지스와 미국의 주요 기술 회사 간의 계약에 대한 정보를 알게 된 후 주식 구매로 상당한 이익을 얻은 것으로 의심받고 있다.

또한, A 지점의 현 지점장도 B에게 정보를 유출한 혐의로 수사를 받고 있다. 지난달 경찰은 하나증권 본사, A 지점, 현 지점장의 거주지에서 수색 영장을 집행하였으며, B가 수사에 대한 사전 정보를 받은 후 증거를 파기했을 가능성을 의심하고 있다.

하나증권의 한 관계자는 "수사 결과가 나오는 대로 전·현 지점장에 대해 적절한 조치를 취할 것"이라고 밝혔다.
