Park Ji-yeon Expresses Gratitude and Determination Ahead of Second Kidney Transplant

Park Ji-yeon, the wife of comedian Lee Soo-geun and a stylist-turned-influencer, shared her heartfelt gratitude and cautious resolve as she prepares for her second kidney transplant. On July 13, she took to her social media to thank everyone for their warm support and prayers, stating, "I am grateful for the many kind words and encouragement I received after the article was published. If the final tests show no issues, I expect to undergo the transplant around mid-next month."
She candidly expressed her mixed feelings, saying, "My heart is still complicated and cautious, but I will try to prepare well for the surgery." Currently, Park is on immunosuppressants and is temporarily winding down her yogurt business in anticipation of her recovery.
This upcoming surgery marks her second kidney transplant in 14 years. In 2011, during her second pregnancy, she experienced severe kidney dysfunction due to pregnancy-induced hypertension and received a kidney from her father. After years of dialysis and medication, her health has declined again, making a second transplant necessary. This time, her biological brother has stepped forward to donate a kidney.
Reflecting on her first surgery, Park admitted, "It was so difficult that I thought I would never want to go through it again. However, I have slowly gained hope as I hear that the technology and medications have improved. This time, I will face it with a bright heart." Her post included a cheerful photo with the caption, "I will overcome this with a bright heart like in the picture," garnering support from many.
Colleagues and fans, including comedian Kim Min-kyung, flooded her post with encouragement, with Kim saying, "Let’s travel together when you’re healthier, Ji-yeon!" Fans commented with heartfelt messages like, "I sincerely pray for you," and "Your family love brings tears to my eyes. I hope you regain your health soon."
Park Ji-yeon married Lee Soo-geun in 2008 and they have two sons together. She has been beloved for sharing her warm family life, homemade lunch boxes, and travel photos on social media. Given her long battle with illness, the calls for her recovery are even more pronounced.
According to medical experts, kidney donations from family members have a lower risk of immune rejection, leading to higher success rates compared to standard transplants. The schedule for Park Ji-yeon’s surgery is currently being finalized.
