Park Jin-young Reveals Behind-the-Scenes of Red Velvet's Seulgi Joining 'The Seasons: Lee Young-ji's Rainbow'

In the latest episode of KBS2TV's music variety show, The Seasons: Lee Young-ji's Rainbow (이영지의 레인보우), Park Jin-young shared insights into how Red Velvet's Seulgi became part of the project. The episode aired on January 24, 2025.

During the show, Lee Young-ji humorously commented on the long-standing misunderstandings between Park Jin-young and Kim Wan-sun, stating, "This story doesn't make sense; I'm only 24, yet it feels like a narrative from someone much older." She then asked Seulgi how she felt about the situation. Seulgi responded, "It seems like we were meant to meet like this. It's an honor to work with such esteemed seniors."

When asked about the member combination, Park Jin-young revealed that when they were brainstorming duet ideas, Kim Wan-sun suggested Seulgi, noting their similar images of health and sexiness. He mentioned, "I was worried that my sister wouldn't ask, so I directly contacted SM as JYP. Seulgi was eager to join without hesitation," sharing the casting story.

Reflecting on his experience as a producer, Park Jin-young expressed surprise at the vocal abilities of both artists, stating, "I was amazed at how well they sang. Kim Wan-sun had no issues singing while dancing, and I was curious about Seulgi, but she exceeded my expectations with her singing skills."

He praised Seulgi's character, saying, "She is kind yet fierce. She has a gentle demeanor but is precise when dancing and is a dedicated practicer. It's an unbelievable combination—she has the gentleness of Kim Wan-sun but the tenacity of myself, Park Jin-young."
