Park Jin-young Jumps into Han River to Escape 'Death's Law' in 'Witch'

In the latest episode of the Channel A drama 'Witch' (마녀), aired on March 8, 2025, Park Jin-young's character, Dong-jin, took a drastic step by jumping into the Han River to evade the ominous 'Death's Law.' The episode reached a thrilling climax as Dong-jin's life-threatening data validation led to unexpected consequences.

Throughout the episode, Dong-jin worked tirelessly to gather data and test his hypothesis regarding the 'Death's Law' surrounding Mi-jeong (played by Noh Jung-ui). Adapting to Mi-jeong's routine of ordering groceries every Tuesday, Dong-jin only worked as a delivery person on that day. When he finally received an order from her, he approached with a mix of excitement and anxiety, knowing the strict conditions of their meeting: within 10 meters and for no more than 10 minutes.

Their first encounter lasted just over 8 minutes, and since it didn't exceed the time limit, Dong-jin experienced no adverse effects. He continued to test the boundaries of their interactions, and after several trials, he discovered that exceeding the 10-minute mark could lead to danger. This was confirmed when he injured himself after a fall while descending stairs after spending too long with Mi-jeong.

As their weekly meetings continued, Mi-jeong began to look forward to their brief conversations, which provided her with a sense of companionship she had missed. However, during one delivery, an unexpected twist occurred when Mi-jeong attempted to pay with a card instead of cash. Dong-jin, unprepared for this change, rushed back to retrieve a card reader, but Mi-jeong insisted on finding cash in her home. As time passed, Dong-jin grew anxious, and upon receiving the cash, he hurried outside, narrowly avoiding the 10-minute limit. Just as he felt relieved, a sign fell from above, injuring his hand.

Despite adhering to the '10m and 10 minutes' rule, the activation of the 'Death's Law' suggested that other factors were at play. Dong-jin speculated that the number of conversations might be a variable. He began counting their exchanges, and as they shared seven lines of dialogue, Mi-jeong noticed his injured hand, causing her to shrink back in concern. Dong-jin reassured her that he had hurt himself while exercising, but as they continued talking, he was soon involved in a motorcycle accident, confirming that exceeding ten exchanges posed a risk.

Determined to prove the 'Death's Law,' Dong-jin faced increasing danger, especially on the day Mi-jeong embarked on her monthly bus trip. He boarded the same bus, maintaining a distance of about 11 meters, but when Mi-jeong moved closer after giving her seat to an elderly woman, their distance shrank to less than 5 meters. Traffic congestion worsened, and as a storm raged outside, Dong-jin felt the pressure mounting. With a truck loaded with metal pipes dangerously close, he decided to escape through the window, distancing himself from Mi-jeong.

In a surprising turn, Mi-jeong called out Dong-jin's name just as he was about to jump. This revelation that she knew his name, combined with the other rules he had broken, left Dong-jin conflicted. Trusting his data, he recalled that there had never been a recorded lightning strike on the Han River in winter. With a bold declaration to the 'Death's Law,' he leaped into the river, leaving viewers eager for the next episode.
