Park Hae-soo Teases Future Projects as 'Netflix Civil Servant'

Actor Park Hae-soo is set to continue his journey as a 'Netflix civil servant,' a term that reflects his significant involvement with the streaming giant. On May 14, during an episode of tvN's 'You Quiz on the Block' (유 퀴즈 온 더 블럭), Park appeared alongside media expert Professor Yoo Hyun-jae from Sogang University, teacher Kim Ji-hwon, who shares life tips with children, and Lee Myung-hak, who recently retired after 42 years in education.

Host Yoo Jae-suk highlighted Park's impressive filmography, jokingly asking if he had signed a contract with Netflix. Park clarified, "I haven't signed anything yet," but mentioned that he has more projects in the pipeline. Having already participated in seven Netflix productions, he humorously showcased his Netflix-themed merchandise, including a baseball jacket, wine glass, and sleepwear.

Reflecting on his past, Park shared that he initially had no strong desire to become an actor. He reminisced about his school days, mentioning his wanderings and solo travels, and how singer Lee Soo-young was a senior who encouraged him. Yoo Jae-suk noted that Lee had told Park, "You don’t need to act; you shine just by being yourself," to which Park agreed, acknowledging he looked good back then.

Before gaining fame, Park worked various jobs, including serving in restaurants and even playing Santa Claus for children. He also served as an assistant stage director for a concert by Lee Moon-sae.

One memorable experience for Park was during a performance of the play 'Adolescence' (사춘기), which has a dark theme. After the show, a student remained in the theater, crying and seemingly contemplating ending their life. The student later expressed that the play had provided them with comfort and strength. Years later, Park encountered the same student after a performance in a different city, who thanked him for the impact the play had on their life. Park reflected, "Meeting such audiences brings me back to my roots."

Since his breakout role in 'Squid Game' (오징어 게임), Park has experienced a surge in popularity, humorously admitting that he has become a bit more arrogant since then.
