Ong Seong-wu Opens Up About Identity Crisis After Military Service

Singer and actor Ong Seong-wu recently shared his thoughts on the challenges he faced after completing his military service in an interview. In a video titled ‘Ong Seong-wu Returns to Us After Discharge’ released on the YouTube channel 'Esquire Korea' on November 23, he revealed that he was discharged last month.
When asked about his adjustment post-service, Ong reflected, "It feels new to be working again. My first event after discharge was an outdoor brand invitation event." He candidly expressed his feelings during the event, saying, "There were people around, and reporters were taking pictures of me, and I thought, ‘What is this? Am I allowed to be here? Where am I? Who am I?’ I think I had those kinds of thoughts."
In response to a question about the most common phrase he heard during his military service, he admitted, "Honestly, I think the phrase I heard the most was, ‘Is this okay?’" He explained, "I was just being myself, not acting like a celebrity at all, so people would say, ‘You’re a celebrity… is this okay?’ I’ll leave it to your imagination what that looked like," he added with a laugh.
