Ong Seong-wu Makes Voice Acting Debut in 'Niko: The Aurora Expedition'

On December 18, a press conference for the animated film 'Niko: The Aurora Expedition' was held at Megabox COEX, featuring actors Ong Seong-wu and Kim Ji-eun, while Park Ye-eun was unable to attend due to health issues. Ong Seong-wu lends his voice to the character Niko, a young deer, while Kim Ji-eun voices Niko's rival, Stella. Young actress Park Ye-rin voices Niko's adorable sister, Lily.

This project marks Ong Seong-wu's first role as a voice actor and his first work after completing his military service. He shared his thoughts on returning to the industry, stating, "I was discharged in winter. Last winter, I was serving the country, but this year, I feel it's a wonderful opportunity to create special memories for children. Plus, the character Niko is just so cute that I couldn't resist taking part."

Ong also expressed his initial surprise at being offered a voice acting role, joking, "When I first received the proposal, I was a bit shocked. I thought, 'Me, doing voiceover?' I wondered if I was chosen just because of the title 'voice actor.'"

He continued, "I had a strong desire to express myself in various vocal styles. While preparing, I thought about how adorable Niko is and aimed to capture a youthful voice that doesn't sound too mature. I practiced high-pitched sounds on my own to get ready for this role."

'Niko: The Aurora Expedition' follows the adventures of young deer Niko and Stella as they embark on a quest to retrieve a lost sleigh just a day before Christmas. The film is set to be released on December 25.
