ONEUS Reflects on Seven Years Together and Future Plans

As ONEUS celebrates their seventh anniversary, the group shared their thoughts on upcoming contract renewals and military service during a special interview on January 14 at a café in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, to promote their new album, Dear.M.

Debuting on January 9, 2019, ONEUS has captivated global K-pop fans with their diverse concepts and performances rooted in a strong narrative.

With the so-called 'seven-year curse' approaching, member Siheon expressed, "Fans often say, 'You love ONEUS more than I do.' While there are challenges, the moments we share as members bring us happiness, and each day is precious. We promise to continue meeting our fans as ONEUS in various ways."

Gunhee added, "Fans are understandably worried about contract renewals and military enlistment. While nothing is set in stone, I can confidently say we will move forward in a way that protects ONEUS."

Throughout the interview, the members displayed a deep affection and trust in both the team and each other. When asked when he realized his love for the group, Gunhee shared, "I didn’t notice it growing until last year when I started thinking about what we could do as a team. Participating in the Road to Kingdom 2 competition solidified my confidence in our team. Even when my self-assurance wavered, having the team made it possible to keep going. It has naturally grown over time."

As the eldest member preparing for enlistment, Seoho stated, "I believe it’s my duty as a citizen of South Korea to serve the country. Protecting the country is also about protecting our team. I want to assure fans that I will return having grown and ready to meet them again."

When asked if he received any advice from ONF, who recently completed their military service, Seoho mentioned, "They advised me to take care and be cautious. They said it would be tough and that time would feel slow. I enjoy being active, so I’m not too worried, but I’ll heed their advice to stay safe and return well."

Looking ahead, ONEUS expressed their desire to perform on larger and more diverse stages. They shared their aspirations for the year, with Gunhee stating, "We want to give back the love we’ve received over the past six years. This album was planned to gift our fans a satisfying year. We are in the planning stages for what comes next, and we will work hard to show what kind of team we are in 2025."

Lastly, Hwanwoong reflected on their identity, saying, "I’ve realized that ONEUS’s identity is about the live experience. We excel at delivering engaging performances while providing enjoyment through our music. I want to meet more fans through performances and create songs that evoke excitement and joy. I aim to achieve more through active musical endeavors."

Seoho concluded by describing ONEUS at six years old, saying, "We’re still doing well. There’s so much more to show, and I believe we can grow and present even more impressive versions of ourselves. We won’t stagnate; we’ll keep evolving."
