Oh Eun-young Critiques Parenting Style on 'Marriage Hell'

On March 24, during the MBC program 'Oh Eun-young Report – Marriage Hell' (오은영 리포트 – 결혼 지옥), psychologist Oh Eun-young assessed a wife's parenting approach, describing it as being at a 'toddler level.' The episode featured a couple struggling with their relationship dynamics, where the wife constantly seeks affection while the husband finds her demands burdensome.

During a family outing, when the second child expressed a desire to handle ticketing, the wife sighed and lamented, 'I can't take it anymore, Mom.' She reacted sensitively to her children's part-time jobs, sharing her concerns about her second daughter getting hurt and coming home late.

In an emotional moment, the wife pleaded with her children, 'Please don’t stress me out. I feel like I’m going to die. I didn’t want to be home because of your father and the youngest.' Observing the situation, Oh Eun-young noted that the wife's emotional responses to conflicts were reminiscent of a toddler's behavior.

Having taken on the bulk of parenting and household responsibilities for 19 years, the wife has treated her children as if they were still babies, despite their growth. The eldest child provided comfort to the distressed mother, expressing, 'When Mom and Dad fight, I think Dad doesn’t compromise. But we have the youngest. Every time voices are raised, the second child takes the youngest to another room to block out the noise. I wish Dad would change.' The mother, in tears, echoed the sentiment, saying she wished for a different father figure but felt powerless to make that change.
