NewJeans Wins Best K-Pop Song at MUSIC AWARDS JAPAN 2025

NewJeans (뉴진스), consisting of members Minji (민지), Hani (하니), Danielle (다니엘), Haerin (해린), and Hyein (혜인), has added another significant accolade to their collection. Their single album 'OMG' features the track 'Ditto,' which won the award for 'Best K-Pop Song in Japan' at the MUSIC AWARDS JAPAN 2025 held in Kyoto on May 21.
The MUSIC AWARDS JAPAN is a prestigious event created through collaboration among five major local organizations, including the Recording Industry Association of Japan, and various government agencies. The winners are determined based on a combination of objective metrics from Billboard Japan, Oricon, and votes from over 5,000 music industry professionals.
Despite being released on December 19, 2022, 'Ditto' has continued to resonate with audiences, earning this award at the inaugural ceremony this year. This achievement reaffirms the enduring popularity and impact of NewJeans' music, transcending time and place.
'Ditto' has set multiple records for NewJeans. The group made their mark on the Billboard Hot 100 and the UK Official Singles Chart just six months after their debut with this song. Additionally, 'Ditto' achieved an impressive 99 consecutive days at number one on Melon, a leading music streaming platform in South Korea, and topped the annual charts in 2023. The song also received the Excellence Award at the Japan Record Awards that same year.
