NewJeans to Perform at the 66th Japan Record Awards After Winning for the Second Consecutive Year

NewJeans (뉴진스) has confirmed their appearance at the 66th Japan Record Awards (일본 레코드 대상) after winning the Excellent Work Award for the second consecutive year. According to their agency, ADOR (어도어), the group, consisting of Minji (민지), Hani (하니), Danielle (다니엘), Haerin (해린), and Hyein (혜인), will perform their debut single 'Supernatural' during the live broadcast on December 30 at 5:30 PM.

The group was recognized as the only overseas artist to receive the Excellent Work Award for 'Supernatural,' which is given to ten songs that gained significant popularity in the year. This marks NewJeans' second consecutive win, following their success with 'Ditto' last year. Winning the Excellent Work Award automatically qualifies them for the Grand Prize.

The Japan Record Awards, organized by the Japan Composers Association, is one of the oldest and most prestigious music award ceremonies in Japan, having started in 1959. The event is broadcast live on TBS every December 30.

NewJeans made their official debut in Japan in June and successfully held a fan meeting at Tokyo Dome, showcasing their impressive rise in popularity. They have been making waves in the local music scene, participating in various year-end shows and festivals.

Earlier this year, NewJeans received enthusiastic responses during their appearances on Fuji TV's '2024 FNS Music Festival' and TBS's 'CDTV Live! Live! Christmas Special.' They are also set to appear on NTV's 'Annual Music Awards 2024' on December 28, which highlights the most popular songs of the year based on major music chart performances. This will be their third consecutive performance at this event.

Additionally, on New Year's Eve, they will take the stage at 'COUNTDOWN JAPAN 24/25,' the largest indoor festival in Japan, making them the first K-pop girl group to do so.

NewJeans will also meet fans through various year-end music festivals and award shows in South Korea. They are scheduled to appear on KBS2's '2024 Music Bank Global Festival in Japan' on December 19, followed by SBS's 'Gayo Daejeon' on December 25, the '2024 Asia Artist Awards (AAA)' on December 27, MBC's 'Gayo Daejeon' on December 31, and the '39th Golden Disc Awards' on January 4, 2025.
