NewJeans to Appear on Christmas Special Amid Contract Dispute

The sensational girl group NewJeans is set to make an appearance on CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show' on December 25, following their recent announcement of contract termination with Ador, a subsidiary of HYBE. Host Kim Hyun-jung revealed that the members will join the Christmas special to provide comfort and peace to listeners through music and conversation. Instead of mentioning the group's name, Kim referred to them as 'five angels' and named the members: Minji (민지), Hani (하니), Danielle (다니엘), Haerin (해린), and Hyein (혜인).
Previously, former Ador CEO Min Hee-jin, who has been supporting NewJeans outside of HYBE, appeared on the same show to discuss the ongoing dispute. It has been reported that Ador was unaware of NewJeans' participation in the show prior to the announcement. This will be NewJeans' first domestic broadcast appearance since their press conference on November 28, where they declared the termination of their contract with Ador. The group has focused on activities in Japan for the past month.
Following the contract termination, there have been allegations of tampering, which refers to unauthorized contact with artists under exclusive contracts with other companies. The members of NewJeans have expressed their desire to work with Min Hee-jin, who served as the creative director for their recent photoshoot in Vogue Korea. Ador maintains that the group's contract is valid until July 2029 and has filed a lawsuit to confirm the validity of the contract with the members. Despite the ongoing dispute, NewJeans continues to enjoy immense popularity, recently ranking first among singers in their 30s and younger in a survey conducted by Gallup Korea, marking their second consecutive year at the top.
