NewJeans Members Continue to Use NJZ Name Despite Court Ruling

Despite a recent court ruling, the members of NewJeans are holding onto their new name, NJZ, and their social media channels. On March 22, they posted a departure message on their NJZ SNS account, saying, "Thank you, Bunnies. We will be back soon," as they prepared to leave for their concert in Hong Kong scheduled for March 23.
Members Minji (민지), Hani (하니), Danielle (다니엘), Haerin (해린), and Hyein (혜인) held an emergency press conference last November, unilaterally declaring the termination of their contract with their agency, Ador, citing a breach of contract. Recently, they announced their new team name, NJZ, through their official SNS channels, continuing their independent actions.
In response, the Seoul Central District Court's Civil Division 50, led by Chief Judge Kim Sang-hoon, accepted Ador's request for a provisional injunction on March 21, which prohibits the five members from engaging in entertainment activities without prior approval from Ador. This ruling effectively halts their use of the NJZ name and any independent activities until the court issues a ruling on the validity of their contract with Ador.
Despite this legal setback, the members remain committed to the NJZ name and their social media presence, causing concern among fans about their future. In a statement via SNS, the members expressed, "We respect the court's decision. However, this ruling does not fully consider the complete breakdown of trust between the members and Ador. We plan to contest the provisional ruling through an appeal process."
