NewJeans Launches Independent SNS Account Amid Agency Concerns

On December 14, NewJeans opened a new social media account under the username 'jeanzforfree' to engage with fans in a fresh way. The members expressed their excitement, stating, "It's really us! It's been a while, and it feels a bit awkward. We missed you all and will meet here more often." Since then, they have been actively sharing various photos and videos on the account to connect with their audience.
In response to this development, Ador, NewJeans' agency, issued a statement clarifying that all accounts created outside of the official NewJeans social media channels were established without prior consultation, which has led to concerns regarding inquiries and complaints from advertisers and third parties. Ador emphasized that any separate entertainment activities conducted through this new account could lead to legal issues, and they have communicated their concerns to the artists and their legal representatives.
Ador reminded fans that NewJeans has dedicated platforms for communication, including their official Instagram and X (formerly Twitter) accounts, and expressed hope that the members would continue to interact with fans through these established channels.
Additionally, NewJeans held an emergency press conference on November 28 to address their position regarding the termination of their contract with Ador. The agency expressed regret over the situation, stating, "We have not violated the contract, and claims of a unilateral breakdown of trust do not constitute grounds for termination. The contract between Ador and NewJeans remains valid." Following this, Ador filed a lawsuit on December 3 to confirm the validity of the contract.
