NewJeans Joins Support for Impeachment Rally with Food Donations

On December 14, 2024, the K-pop group NewJeans (민지, 하니, 다니엘, 해린, 혜인) announced their support for participants of the impeachment rally against President Yoon Suk-yeol by providing pre-paid meals. Through their newly launched Instagram account 'jeanzforfree', they shared that they had arranged a variety of food options, including snacks, dumpling soup, ginseng chicken soup, and coffee, which can be collected by anyone holding a cheering stick under the fan club name, Bunnies.

This initiative aligns with previous efforts by singer IU and Girls' Generation's Yuri, who also provided food support for the rally. On December 13, IU's agency, Edam Entertainment, revealed that she had pre-paid for 200 loaves of bread, 200 drinks, 100 rice cakes, and 200 bowls of soup to be distributed near the rally site. They emphasized that the food and hot packs would be available on a first-come, first-served basis, regardless of fan club membership.

Similarly, Yuri pre-paid for kimbap at a nearby shop and encouraged participants through a fan platform, saying, "Make sure to eat kimbap and stay full. Sing 'Into the New World' well!" The song has recently gained attention as a popular sing-along among the MZ generation at the impeachment rallies.
