NewJeans Express Disappointment Over Court Ruling

Members of the K-pop group NewJeans (뉴진스), now known as NJZ, expressed their disappointment regarding a recent court ruling that restricts their activities. In a statement sent to Time magazine on March 22, the members stated, "We are disappointed with the court's decision." They acknowledged that they did not expect the issues within the K-pop industry to be resolved overnight.

Reflecting on their journey, they remarked, "Compared to what we have experienced so far, this is just another stage in our journey. This may just be the reality in Korea." They emphasized the need for change and growth, suggesting that the current situation seems to position them as revolutionaries in the industry.

Following the court's decision, Ador, the agency that has retained the group's status until the first trial verdict, expressed regret that the matter has escalated to legal proceedings. They stated, "We believe that misunderstandings caused by the previous management can be fully resolved once the members return."

On March 21, the Seoul Central District Court accepted Ador's request for a provisional injunction against NewJeans, preventing the five members from engaging in independent activities until the first trial ruling is made. Although NewJeans plans to contest the injunction, they currently must negotiate with Ador to resume their activities.

In their statement following the ruling, NewJeans acknowledged the court's decision but noted that it did not adequately consider the complete breakdown of trust between the members and Ador. They plan to challenge the injunction through the appropriate legal channels, asserting that the truth will eventually come to light.

This situation continues to unfold as fans and industry observers await further developments.
