Netflix Series 'Trauma Center' Climbs to Global No. 3, Closing in on 'Squid Game' Season 2

The Netflix series 'Trauma Center' (중증외상센터) has surged to the third spot globally, closely trailing behind 'Squid Game' Season 2 (오징어 게임2). According to the OTT content ranking site FlixPatrol, as of January 28, 'Trauma Center' reached the third position in Netflix's global TV show rankings with a score of 567, climbing two spots from fifth place the previous day.

'Squid Game 2', which premiered at the end of last year, holds the second position with a score of 586 and has maintained its place in the top tier for over a month. Currently, only two Korean original series are in the top 10, making 'Trauma Center's rapid rise particularly noteworthy as fans speculate whether it can surpass 'Squid Game 2'.

Additionally, 'Trauma Center' achieved the number one spot in eight countries, including South Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, and now Peru. It is also ranked eighth in the U.S. on Netflix, solidifying its place in the top 10.

The series revolves around a university hospital's trauma team, which faces mounting deficits as they strive to save patients. The story follows the brilliant trauma surgeon Baek Kang-hyuk (주지훈), who is assigned to revive the struggling trauma team. The cast includes Choo Young-woo as his first fellow Yang Jae-won, Ha Young as nurse Cheon Jang-mi, Yoon Kyung-ho as the head of the proctology department Han Yoo-rim, and Jung Jae-kwang as resident anesthesiologist Park Kyung-won.

Based on the popular web novel and webtoon 'Trauma Center: Golden Hour' (중증외상센터: 골든 아워) by author Han Sang-ki (이낙준), the webtoon has amassed over 400 million views globally. The series has garnered attention since its planning and production stages, and anticipation for a second season is on the rise due to its high-quality execution.
