Netflix Announces New Series 'Donggung' Featuring Nam Joo-hyuk and Noh Yoon-seo

Netflix has officially confirmed the production of its upcoming series 'Donggung' (working title). The story follows Gucheon (남주혁), a character with the unique ability to exorcise spirits, as he teams up with the mysterious court lady Saenggang (노윤서) to uncover the hidden curse that looms over the royal palace, under the orders of the king (조승우). The series is crafted by the talented duo of writers Kwon So-ra and Seo Jae-won, known for their work on the groundbreaking occult dramas 'The King: Eternal Monarch' and 'The Guest', alongside director Choi Jung-kyu, recognized for his genre-blending skills in 'The Devil Judge' and 'Red Moon Blue Sun'.
In this series, Nam Joo-hyuk portrays Gucheon, who navigates the realm of spirits and wields a blade to confront them. He infiltrates the palace to solve a series of bizarre incidents, only to encounter an unexpected dark world. Having proven his acting prowess in various projects, including 'Vigilante' and 'Twenty-Five Twenty-One', Nam's return to the screen after military service is highly anticipated.
Noh Yoon-seo plays Saenggang, a court lady with the extraordinary ability to hear the voices of ghosts. Although she has viewed her talent as a curse, she uses it to assist Gucheon in unraveling the palace's mysteries. Noh has made a significant impact with her performances in 'Our Blues' and 'Crash Course in Romance', and her role in this Netflix series is generating considerable interest.
Jo Seung-woo takes on the role of the king, who discreetly summons Gucheon and Saenggang to resolve the curse afflicting the palace. The character presents a duality, appearing as a benevolent ruler while harboring deep shadows within, and fans are eager to see how Jo will portray this complexity.
'Donggung' (working title) is set to be exclusively released on Netflix.
