NCT's Ten and Yangyang Share Their Passion for 'Universe League'

Ten and Yangyang from NCT and WayV expressed their deep affection for the league they lead during the press conference for SBS's new variety show, 'Universe League', held on November 19 at the SBS Mokdong headquarters in Yangcheon, Seoul. They described the league as showcasing 'delicate yet personal charm'.
'Universe League' is the boy group version of the massive girl group audition show 'Universe Ticket'. Directed by PD Lee Hwan-jin, who also helmed the previous season, the show aims to discover the next generation of global boy group talent.
What sets this program apart is its league format, as indicated by its name. Unlike traditional audition shows where trainees compete individually, 'Universe League' features team competitions, which has already garnered significant attention. A total of three teams will participate, but only one will achieve their dream of debuting and performing on stages worldwide.
Notably, prominent K-pop artists will serve as team leaders, guiding their respective groups. BTOB's Lee Changsub, GOT7's Yugyeom, producer EL CAPITXN, and NCT/WayV's Ten and Yangyang will lead the teams named Rhythm, Groove, and Beat. They will select team members through a draft process and make trades to form the ultimate line-up.
The competition will be fierce as the directors not only select their team members but also compete for victory, driven by their desire to support their juniors and uphold their own reputations.
Ten proudly stated, "The Rhythm team showcases a delicate balance while highlighting the individual charms of the members. I focus on providing solutions based on what I observe at any given moment. Since it's a group performance, we discuss how to make the stage more enjoyable rather than just perfecting synchronized choreography. I aim to highlight personal gestures and unscripted moments."
Yangyang added, "I had similar experiences during my debut. I used to think about how to look cooler in front of the camera. I want to share those experiences with the trainees, providing a sense of comfort as a senior."
The dream match for these aspiring boys, 'Universe League', is set to premiere on November 22 at 11:20 PM.
