Na Sang-hyun of Na Sang-hyun Band Apologizes Following Sexual Assault Allegations

Na Sang-hyun (30), the vocalist of the indie band Na Sang-hyun Band, has issued an apology after a netizen accused him of sexual assault. On May 23, he took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his sincere regret, stating, "I truly apologize to anyone who may have felt discomfort or unease due to my past actions." He acknowledged that he had hurt the individual while under the influence of alcohol and expressed remorse for not being able to apologize directly at the time.
The allegations surfaced online, with a post claiming that Na Sang-hyun had inappropriately touched a woman's thigh while pretending to be drunk at a gathering. The accuser noted that they chose to remain vague to avoid being identified and did not provide specific evidence due to the private nature of the incident.
In his statement, Na Sang-hyun reflected on his behavior from about three to four years ago, admitting that he has been working on improving himself with the help of those around him. He emphasized his commitment to ensuring that similar incidents do not occur in the future and reiterated his apology to the affected individual.
He expressed a heavy heart for acting contrary to his values and stated, "I will strive to establish clearer standards to uphold the values I hold dear. I apologize once again." Additionally, he reached out to the accuser, saying, "I know it’s late, but I would like to offer a personal apology. If you are comfortable, please send me a direct message." He also urged others to refrain from any secondary victimization of the accuser.
Na Sang-hyun is a graduate of Seoul National University’s Department of Media and Communication and debuted in 2015 with the EP 'Jjirijjirit' as part of Na Sang-hyun Band, which gained attention for having all members from the prestigious university. The band has been actively performing at various solo concerts, university festivals, and music festivals.
