'Moving' to Premiere on MBC: First Collaboration Between Global OTT and Terrestrial Broadcasting

The highly anticipated Disney+ original series 'Moving' (무빙), written by Kang Full and directed by Park In-je and Park Yoon-seo, is set to make its television debut on MBC on December 22, 2024. This marks the first collaboration between a global OTT platform and a terrestrial broadcaster in South Korea.

After extensive discussions, MBC has reached an agreement with Disney+ to air 'Moving', a series that has garnered international attention for its artistic merit. The drama, which originally premiered as a 20-episode series on Disney+ in August 2023, is based on Kang Full's popular webtoon. It tells the story of children with hidden superpowers and their parents, who harbor painful secrets from the past, as they confront a looming threat that transcends time and generations.

The casting of renowned actors such as Ryu Seung-ryong, Han Hyo-joo, Jo In-sung, Cha Tae-hyun, and Kim Sung-kyu, alongside rising stars like Lee Jung-ha, Go Yoon-jung, and Kim Do-hoon, has generated significant buzz. Following its release, 'Moving' has received widespread acclaim both domestically and internationally, being hailed as a groundbreaking entry in the K-hero genre.

This collaboration is particularly noteworthy as it aims to provide high-quality content to a broader audience by combining the free-to-air service of terrestrial broadcasting with the subscription-based model of OTT platforms. An MBC content strategy team representative stated, "While 'Moving' is a mega-hit on Disney+, there are still many viewers who have yet to experience it. This collaboration signifies our commitment to expanding access to excellent K-culture content for diverse audiences through MBC."

The series will kick off with its first broadcast on December 22 at 10 PM, followed by a special three-day event during the Christmas week featuring the first eight episodes. Starting in January, it will continue with two episodes every Sunday night, maintaining a regular schedule.
