Moon Geun-young Shares Health Update After Rare Disease Recovery

Actress Moon Geun-young (문근영), 37, has revealed that she is currently on a diet to lose weight healthily after recovering from acute compartment syndrome. In an interview posted on the YouTube channel 'Cosmopolitan Korea' on the 29th, she shared, "I've gained weight rapidly while enjoying life, and I'm committed to losing it in a healthy way, even if it takes time."

She explained her daily routine, stating, "I go for a walk first thing in the morning, eat three healthy meals, and incorporate exercise into my day." Moon also reflected on her past dieting struggles, saying, "I used to always have to diet, avoiding certain foods and living in a state of hunger. I often wondered why I felt deprived when it came to food, which led me to find joy in cooking and trying new recipes. Unfortunately, that enjoyment resulted in weight gain."

In February 2017, Moon was diagnosed with acute compartment syndrome while performing in the play 'Romeo and Juliet,' which forced her to halt her activities. After undergoing treatment and surgery, she returned to the public eye in September of the same year. Acute compartment syndrome is a rare condition characterized by increased pressure within muscle compartments, which can lead to severe pain and, in extreme cases, paralysis of the affected muscles.

Recently, Moon announced her full recovery from the condition via Instagram on the 21st of last month, stating, "Many people have expressed concern for my health, but I am now completely healed and in excellent condition. Although I've gained a bit of weight, I'm currently on a diet while watching daily motivational videos. I hope you can support my journey to successful weight loss instead of worrying about my health now."
