Moon Geun-young Recovers Her Radiance in New Photoshoot After Battling Compartment Syndrome

Moon Geun-young showcased her versatile beauty in a recent photoshoot for Cosmopolitan, released on November 21, 2024. The actress, known for her roles in various dramas, displayed a range of expressions from the intense character in Netflix's original series Hellbound 2 (지옥2) to the innocent charm reminiscent of her role in Autumn in My Heart (가을동화). After a long hiatus from photoshoots, Moon returned with a professional demeanor, effortlessly embodying diverse concepts.
Following the photoshoot, she participated in an interview where she reflected on the significance of having a multifaceted persona as an actress. "There was a time when I wished my face was a blank canvas, allowing me to embody any character without preconceived notions. However, the public often sees me as bright, kind, and lovable. I also have darker emotions like anger, pain, and sadness. I feel grateful when directors and projects help me explore these hidden facets of my personality," she candidly shared.
Moon expressed her enthusiasm for working on Hellbound 2, stating, "Director Yeon Sang-ho approached me with the script and asked if I would be interested in collaborating. My response was an enthusiastic 'Absolutely, thank you!' I found the experience of filming Hellbound 2 to be incredibly enjoyable, and it reminded me of how much I love acting."
She also recounted a heartwarming exchange with fellow actress Shim Eun-kyung, who recently praised her in an article. "After seeing her kind words, I felt compelled to thank her on Instagram. She reached out via direct message, and we promised to support each other and meet up soon. I would love to work with Eun-kyung, as we have both walked similar paths in our careers, starting as child actors and striving to carve our own niches. Watching her succeed has been both inspiring and a moment of self-reflection for me," Moon expressed affectionately.
Reflecting on her personal growth, Moon revealed, "In the past, acting was my top priority, often overshadowing my own identity. Recently, I've shifted my focus to prioritize myself first, realizing that my existence is essential for my acting. This change has led me to explore what I truly enjoy and dislike, which I had neglected for so long."
She noted a lighter approach to her work and relationships, saying, "I feel less burdened than before. While I used to take everything very seriously, I’m now learning to embrace joy in the moment. I’m discovering ways to live more lightly."
Looking ahead, Moon Geun-young expressed her aspirations: "I want to fill my life with more projects. I feel capable of taking on anything right now!" Her renewed passion and outlook promise exciting developments in her career.
