MONSTA X's Hyungwon Returns After Military Service

Hyungwon of MONSTA X has officially returned to his fans after completing his military service. On May 13, 2025, Starship Entertainment announced that Hyungwon has been discharged after serving for 1 year and 6 months. He enlisted in the army on November 14, 2023, and has now fulfilled his duty. This marks a significant moment for MONSTA X as they prepare to celebrate their 10th anniversary and the release of their digital album 'NOW PROJECT vol.1' on May 14.
In a heartfelt message to his fans, known as MONBEBE, Hyungwon expressed, "I’m back! I missed you all so much. During my time in the military, I read many letters from you, and each one gave me strength. Thank you for always supporting me and for your patience."
He also shared his excitement about the upcoming anniversary, stating, "I’m so happy to be with the members as we celebrate our 10th anniversary tomorrow. I will do my best to create more memories with MONBEBE, so please keep watching us. I love you, MONBEBE!"
On the day of his discharge, Hyungwon will host a live broadcast at 6 PM KST on MONSTA X's official YouTube channel. Additionally, he will hold a free fan event titled 'Hyungwon's Wonder Garden' on May 17 at Myunghwa Live Hall in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul, allowing him to connect more closely with fans.
Since debuting with MONSTA X in 2015, Hyungwon has showcased his versatility not only as a member of the group but also through acting, producing, and various entertainment roles, establishing himself as a prominent figure in the K-pop industry. He has consistently contributed original songs to MONSTA X's albums and formed a unit with Shownu in 2023, releasing the title track 'Love Me A Little' and demonstrating his production skills.
Hyungwon has also made a name for himself as a DJ on MBC FM4U's 'Idol Radio Season 2' and as an MC on SBS's 'Inkigayo.' He is set to serve as the MC for the 'Asia Star Entertainer Awards 2025' on May 29.
As MONSTA X gears up for their 10th anniversary and the release of 'NOW PROJECT vol.1,' all eyes are on Hyungwon's activities, both as a solo artist and as part of the group.
