Model Moon Ga-bi Addresses Rumors Following Son's Birth Announcement

Model Moon Ga-bi has spoken out regarding the rumors that surfaced after she revealed the birth of her son. On November 22, she shared the news of her secret delivery, marking her return to the public eye after a four-year hiatus from her entertainment career. She expressed, "I gathered the courage to live a more ordinary life as a mother, wanting to show my child the bright and beautiful world I once knew. I felt it was necessary to be brave for that purpose."

However, she did not initially disclose the identity of her child's father, leading to widespread speculation. Just two days later, it was revealed that the father is actor Jung Woo-sung, shocking many. Jung Woo-sung's representatives confirmed, "The child Moon Ga-bi announced on social media is indeed his. We are discussing the best approach for co-parenting and he will do his utmost as a father." Reports indicated that Jung Woo-sung had even suggested a name for the baby and had discussions regarding the birth.

The situation escalated when photos of Jung Woo-sung with a non-celebrity were leaked, along with claims that he had been in a relationship for over a year, fueling various rumors. Additionally, a screenshot of a direct message allegedly from a netizen who claimed to have received it from Jung Woo-sung circulated online, further complicating matters.

In response to the growing controversy, Jung Woo-sung chose to confront the issue directly. At the 45th Blue Dragon Film Awards, he stated, "I stand here hoping that my personal matters do not tarnish the film 'Spring in Seoul.' I sincerely apologize to everyone who has shown me love and support for causing concern and disappointment. I will take all criticism and will fulfill my responsibilities as a father to my son."

Despite his efforts, speculation surrounding Jung Woo-sung, Moon Ga-bi, and their son continued. A month after her initial announcement, Moon Ga-bi took to her social media on December 28 to clarify her stance on the rampant rumors.

She stated, "Amidst the numerous articles about me and that person, I feel compelled to correct the false narratives that have been ruthlessly spread without verification. The most affected by this situation is my defenseless child, and I want to set the record straight."

Moon Ga-bi explained that her silence was to protect her child and the child's father, saying, "Various speculations have emerged, including claims that I got pregnant after a few meetings with a man I had never dated, and that I demanded marriage for child support, which he refused, leading to an unconsented birth. Some even suggested that my posts on social media were intended to harm his reputation for personal gain."

Regarding her relationship with Jung Woo-sung, she clarified, "Since we met at a gathering in 2022, we have been getting to know each other better, and our relationship continued until the last day of 2023. However, since January 2024, I have not met him even once, and I have never demanded marriage or anything else from him due to my pregnancy."

She emphasized, "We both chose to welcome this child as a precious gift from our natural and healthy relationship. It is not right to label this child as a mistake or to assume he will be unhappy simply because our relationship has taken a different form."

Moon Ga-bi concluded by stating, "I am prepared to dedicate my life to this child, and that decision has become the greatest gift to myself. I believe that my lack of experience as a mother does not equate to a mistake or wrongdoing. This child is neither a mistake nor a consequence of one."

Finally, she expressed, "I do not seek praise for protecting and taking responsibility for this precious life, nor do I wish to be criticized. I simply hope that the world will bless the birth of my child. I sincerely wish for no more unfounded speculations or falsehoods about me and my child to circulate."
