The Azraq camp was established in 2014 following a massive influx of refugees due to the Syrian civil war that began in 2011. WT opened a taekwondo academy there in 2016, inspired by a poignant photograph of three-year-old Aylan Kurdi, who drowned while fleeing to safety in 2015. Cho stated, "Seeing that image shocked me, and I pondered how to alleviate the suffering of the hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees."

To facilitate charitable efforts through taekwondo, Cho established the Taekwondo Human Foundation (THF). He recalled a significant event on the UN's International Day of Peace (September 21), where the WT demonstration team performed for the UN, connecting with peacekeeping forces in Lebanon via video link, which garnered a positive response.

Cho noted that the Azraq camp was plagued by violence and illegal activities, but through taekwondo, education and order were maintained, helping to connect the youth to the outside world. Currently, 350 individuals aged 4 to 22 train at the academy, which has become a beacon of hope within the camp. The appeal trial for Lee Jae-myung, the presidential candidate from the Democratic Party of Korea, regarding charges of perjury has been postponed until after the presidential election. This marks the third delay following the postponement of trials related to violations of the Public Official Election Act and the Daejang-dong case on May 7. 

According to legal sources on May 12, the Seoul High Court's Criminal Division 3, presided over by Judge Lee Jae-gwon, has changed the first hearing date for the appeal, originally set for May 20, to 'to be determined later.' This means that the trial concerning Lee's alleged perjury will be indefinitely postponed. 

A representative from the Seoul High Court explained that the change in the court date was due to Lee registering as a presidential candidate over the weekend. He officially registered with the National Election Commission on May 10, prompting the decision to halt the trial proceedings. 

Previously, on May 7, Lee's legal team submitted a request for a postponement to the courts handling the Public Official Election Act, Daejang-dong, and perjury cases. The request emphasized that elections are a crucial opportunity for citizens to exercise their sovereignty in a representative democracy, and that the state must effectively guarantee the citizens' voting rights. 

As a result, the court handling the Public Official Election Act case has rescheduled its first hearing from May 15 to June 18, while the courts overseeing the Daejang-dong, Wirye, Baekhyeon-dong, and Seongnam FC cases have canceled all scheduled hearings in May, rescheduling the next hearing for June 24. 

Consequently, among the five trials Lee is involved in, he will not be required to attend any hearings before the election, except for the preliminary hearings regarding the 'illegal remittance to North Korea' and 'misuse of corporate credit cards in Gyeonggi Province,' which are currently being handled by the Suwon District Court.

He further lamented, "When they offered to connect me to another consultant, it turned out to be the same department I had initially contacted. My mental state was shattered. I understand that the consultants are working hard, but the response is just too inadequate." 

Fortunately, no further damage was reported. Two days later, Kim announced, "It took me a day and a half, but I finally managed to cancel my account. It was truly a terrifying day." 

Kim Jaejoong debuted in 2003 as a member of the group TVXQ (동방신기) and has been surrounded by rumors of his wealth, including claims of a net worth of 1 trillion won. He fueled these speculations by revealing that he had used a black card, issued only to the top 0.05% of VIPs in South Korea, for about 12 years. In a recent appearance on a YouTube channel, he clarified, "They included all the cars I've driven over the past 20 years in my asset list. Real estate can come and go, and I buy and sell cars. In Daegu, two active police officers have been arrested and charged for allegedly accepting bribes totaling millions of won from illegal gambling and escort service operators in exchange for providing them with information about law enforcement activities. The Daegu District Prosecutor's Office announced on May 12, 2025, that Officer A (46) from a police station in Gyeongbuk and Officer B (45) from a Daegu police station have been indicted on charges of bribery.

According to the prosecution, Officer A received bribes of 63.86 million won from escort service operator C (50) and 100.96 million won from illegal gambling operator D (49) between 2019 and July 2022 in return for sharing information about police crackdowns. Officer B is accused of accepting 23.9 million won from C over a period of approximately seven months starting in September 2019.

Investigations revealed that the officers referred to the operators as 'hyungnim' (형님, a term of respect) and engaged in leisure activities together, including overseas trips, golfing, and water skiing. Additionally, Officer A allegedly encouraged C to file a false report claiming that D had bribed the police, suggesting that this could lead to D's arrest. During this process, A disclosed the names of two fellow officers to C and made false reports to a superior officer at the Daegu Police Agency regarding the bribery.

Officer B was also found to have submitted a letter to the court requesting leniency for D, who was charged with violating the Gaming Industry Promotion Act.

To conceal their activities, the arrested officers reportedly accepted bribes in cash or used proxy accounts to launder the money as investment returns. They also regularly deleted conversations from their KakaoTalk chat rooms and created new ones to avoid detection.

A spokesperson from the Daegu District Prosecutor's Office stated that they will thoroughly investigate any remaining allegations and ensure that there is no inappropriate collusion between law enforcement officers and the targets of their investigations.

Meanwhile, C, who provided the bribes, has been arrested and charged with bribery, while B has been indicted without detention on the same charges.

대구에서 두 명의 현직 경찰관이 불법 도박 및 유흥업소 운영자들로부터 수백만 원의 뇌물을 수수한 혐의로 체포되어 기소되었다. 대구지방검찰청은 2025년 5월 12일, 경북의 한 경찰서 소속 A 경위(46)와 대구 경찰서 소속 B 경위(45)가 뇌물 수수 혐의로 기소되었다고 발표했다.

조사 결과, 이들 경찰관은 운영자들을 '형님'이라고 부르며 해외 여행, 골프, 수상 스키 등 여가 활동을 함께 한 것으로 드러났다. 또한 A 경위는 C에게 D가 경찰에 뇌물을 줬다고 허위 신고를 하도록 유도하며, 이는 D의 체포로 이어질 수 있다고 주장한 것으로 알려졌다. 이 과정에서 A는 C에게 두 명의 동료 경찰관의 이름을 공개하고, 대구 경찰청의 상관에게 뇌물 수수에 대한 허위 보고를 하기도 했다.

B 경위는 또한 D가 게임산업진흥법을 위반한 혐의로 기소된 것에 대해 관대한 처분을 요청하는 편지를 법원에 제출한 것으로 확인되었다.

이들은 활동을 은폐하기 위해 현금으로 뇌물을 수수하거나 대리 계좌를 사용해 자금을 세탁한 것으로 전해졌다. 또한 카카오톡 채팅방에서 대화를 정기적으로 삭제하고 새로운 방을 만들어 탐지를 피했다.

대구지방검찰청의 대변인은 남아 있는 혐의에 대해 철저히 조사하고, 수사 대상과 경찰관 간의 부적절한 공모가 없도록 하겠다고 밝혔다.

한편, 뇌물을 제공한 C는 체포되어 뇌물 수수 혐의로 기소되었고, B는 같은 혐의로 구속 없이 기소되었다.
