Actress Kim Tae-ri is set to reveal a new side of herself in Netflix's first Korean animated series, 'This Star Needs' (이 별에 필요한), directed by Han Ji-won and produced by Climax Studio. The show will premiere on May 30, 2025. 

Set in Seoul in 2050, 'This Star Needs' tells the romantic story of astronaut Nan-young, who dreams of exploring Mars, and Jay, a musician who has temporarily set aside his aspirations. Kim Tae-ri voices the character of Nan-young, who is involved in cutting-edge technology research. Her active participation in the character's development, from design to live-action filming, has already generated significant interest in her portrayal of Nan-young.

On May 21, 2025, Koh Hak-soo, the Chairperson of the Personal Information Protection Commission, described the recent hacking incident involving SK Telecom as a "very serious event that threatens public trust." He emphasized that strict penalties would be imposed for any legal violations. Speaking at the 'Personal Information Policy Forum' held at the Bank Hall in Jung-gu, Seoul, Koh pointed to SK Telecom's failures as the primary cause of the breach. "Customers trusted the company (SK Telecom) while using its services, only to become victims of this incident. The damage has already been immense, and the company failed to prevent it," he stated. 

Koh criticized SK Telecom's notification process regarding the data breach, calling it "delayed and inadequate," expressing significant regret over the situation. On May 2, the commission had ordered SK Telecom to inform all potentially affected customers by May 9. However, the company only communicated the breach to its customers on that date. 

Koh noted, "The fact that SK Telecom did not notify customers until then is a major issue, and the information provided was passive and in some cases violated the Personal Information Protection Act. We deemed the notification insufficient and sent an official letter to SK Telecom regarding this matter." 

Regarding claims that North Korea or China may be behind the hacking, he remarked, "It is often difficult to confirm the perpetrators behind hacking incidents. There are traces of information from the server being transferred to an IP address in Singapore, but identifying who controls that IP is challenging. International cooperation is necessary." 

As for whether the hacked personal data has been leaked on the dark web, Koh stated, "Nothing has been discovered yet, but monitoring remains difficult." The dark web is known for being a hub for various cybercrimes, accessible only through specific software. 

Koh also warned of potential secondary damages beyond just cloned phones, indicating that various forms of harm could arise. "We are continuously monitoring the situation," he added.

고 의장은 "SK텔레콤이 그때까지 고객에게 통지하지 않은 것은 큰 문제이며, 제공된 정보는 수동적이었고 일부 경우에는 개인정보 보호법을 위반했다. 우리는 통지가 불충분하다고 판단하고 이 문제에 대해 SK텔레콤에 공식 서한을 보냈다"고 말했다.

해킹의 배후에 북한이나 중국이 있을 수 있다는 주장에 대해 그는 "해킹 사건의 범인을 확인하는 것은 종종 어렵다. 서버에서 싱가포르의 IP 주소로 정보가 전송된 흔적이 있지만, 그 IP를 제어하는 사람이 누구인지 파악하는 것은 도전적이다. 국제 협력이 필요하다"고 언급했다.

해킹된 개인정보가 다크웹에 유출되었는지에 대해 고 의장은 "아직 발견된 것은 없지만, 모니터링은 여전히 어렵다"고 말했다. 다크웹은 특정 소프트웨어를 통해서만 접근할 수 있는 다양한 사이버 범죄의 중심지로 알려져 있다.

고 의장은 복제된 전화기 이상의 잠재적 2차 피해에 대해 경고하며, 다양한 형태의 피해가 발생할 수 있음을 시사했다. "우리는 상황을 지속적으로 모니터링하고 있다"고 덧붙였다.

SK Telecom Hacking Incident Raises Serious Privacy Concerns

Recent investigations have revealed that Jeon Seong-bae, a shaman known as 'Geonjin Beopsa,' gifted not one, but two Chanel bags to Yoon Mo, a former head of the Unification Church (now known as the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification). These bags were handed over to Yoo Kyung-ok, a close aide to Kim Geon-hee, the spouse of former President Yoon Suk-yeol. Reports indicate that Yoo paid extra fees to exchange both bags for different products. 

On May 21, the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office, led by Chief Prosecutor Park Geon-wook, conducted searches at Chanel Korea and Yoo's residence, uncovering records of the two transactions involving the Chanel bags. An analysis of customer purchase and exchange histories revealed that Yoo visited a Chanel store and paid additional amounts to swap both bags for other items. However, the prosecutors have yet to secure the actual bags. 

In related news, Kim Yong-tae, the emergency committee chair of the People Power Party, publicly apologized for the party's failure to address public concerns regarding Kim Geon-hee's past actions, stating that the party is committed to reflecting on this issue and making fundamental changes.
