Misunderstandings Resolved in '지금 거신 전화는' as Yoo Yeon-seok and Chae Soo-bin Reconnect

In the latest episode of MBC's weekend drama '지금 거신 전화는' (Currently, the Phone is Ringing), aired on December 21, 2024, the relationship between Baek Sa-eon (played by Yoo Yeon-seok) and Hong Hee-joo (played by Chae Soo-bin) took a positive turn as they resolved their misunderstandings.

During the episode, Baek Sa-eon prepared kimchi fried rice for Hong Hee-joo, suggesting, "Let’s have meals together more often at home. It’ll feel more like a home and less like a prison."

In response, Hong Hee-joo retorted, "When did I ever say it felt like a prison? You did, because you feel guilty. Even though we live together, it’s just cold winds blowing through. We don’t even eat together or sleep in the same bed!"

Baek Sa-eon then asked, "Do you want to? If you don’t like sleeping in separate rooms, you should have said so earlier," as he gently caressed her lips. He confessed, "To me, this house felt warm. Seeing the lights outside when I come home made me realize how nice it is that you’re here. When I look at you, the noisy world around me becomes quiet and peaceful."

Later, Baek Sa-eon checked the address of a kidnapper threatening Hong Hee-joo and headed there. Meanwhile, Hong Hee-joo received a video link from the kidnapper, who taunted her about wanting to know Baek Sa-eon’s hidden side.

This led Hong Hee-joo to confront Ji Sang-woo (played by Heo Nam-jun) about a missing children case from an orphanage. When Baek Sa-eon unexpectedly found her there, he expressed his anger, asking, "Why are you here? Did you come to ask Ji Sang-woo something? Why didn’t you ask me? Were you afraid to?"

Hong Hee-joo admitted she was scared, prompting Baek Sa-eon to question, "Why? Are you afraid of what kind of Baek Sa-eon you don’t know?" She confessed her fear of him leaving her. Baek Sa-eon asked how he could earn her trust, to which she replied, "Don’t hide anything, show me everything. I can handle it. Why can’t you? You didn’t abandon me even when you knew I was at rock bottom. Let’s show each other our true selves and be fair."

Baek Sa-eon then declared, "Hong Hee-joo, if something happens to me and the Baek Sa-eon you know disappears from this world, even if I erase myself, remember this: the only Baek Sa-eon I want to leave behind in this world is the one that belongs to you, Hong Hee-joo." This heartfelt confession brought tears to the viewers' eyes.
