Mijoo Confirms Breakup with Soccer Player Song Beom-keun on 'How Do You Play?'

Singer Mijoo has officially acknowledged her breakup with soccer player Song Beom-keun. Initially, she maintained a 'no comment' stance regarding her personal life when the breakup rumors surfaced, but she later confirmed the split during the MBC variety show How Do You Play? (놀면 뭐하니?).

In the episode aired on February 1, the cast traveled to Ganghwa Island to enjoy a meal prepared with fish caught by KCM. However, the highlight of the show was Mijoo's candid remarks about her recent breakup during the opening segment.

As she gazed at the sea and birds, Mijoo expressed, "The birds are lucky. They are free," and added, "Please don’t leave me alone and lonely." This seemed to reflect her feelings after ending her public relationship with Song Beom-keun after nine months.

The other cast members quickly rallied around her, offering playful support. They repeatedly reassured her, saying, "It’s okay, Mijoo. You’re fine," while referencing the news of her breakup.

Yoo Jae-suk humorously pointed out the numerous keychain dolls hanging from Mijoo's bag, saying, "Isn’t that too many dolls? It represents your feelings. It’s confusing," which brought laughter to the group. Amid the light-hearted teasing, Mijoo subtly moved to the edge of the group.

Joo Woo-jae commented, "You have to understand that it feels empty when something that was there is suddenly gone," while Lee Yi-kyung and Haha hinted that they should avoid discussing her personal life further.

In response, Yoo Jae-suk said, "Since it’s her personal life, I won’t delve too deeply. We all have our own issues to worry about. During times like this, it’s best to be with good company in beautiful places." The members then encouraged Mijoo to stay in the center of the group to avoid feeling lonely.

Mijoo first confirmed her relationship with Song Beom-keun in April of last year, stating, "We have mutual feelings and are cautiously getting to know each other," marking her first public romance after a decade in the industry. However, breakup rumors surfaced on January 20, and her agency, Antenna, stated, "We cannot confirm details regarding the artist's personal life."
