MBC's Show! Music Core Moves to Sunday, Competing with SBS's Inkigayo

The MBC music program Show! Music Core (쇼! 음악중심), which traditionally aired on Saturdays, will now be broadcast on Sundays, directly competing with SBS's Inkigayo (인기가요). The change is set for December 15, with Show! Music Core scheduled to air at 2:05 PM due to a shift in programming caused by President Yoon Suk-yeol's emergency martial law situation and the impeachment vote broadcast.

Previously, the show was also canceled on December 7 due to the same political circumstances, and the team opted to pre-record the performances for that day. Initially, Show! Music Core planned to air the pre-recorded segments on December 14, but this was complicated by the rescheduling of the impeachment vote, which was set to take place at 4 PM on the same day.

As a result, Show! Music Core, which usually airs at 3:15 PM on Saturdays, had to adjust its schedule again. The team attempted to move the broadcast to 10:50 AM but ultimately decided to air it the following day, December 15, at 2:05 PM.

This scheduling change creates a one-hour gap between Show! Music Core and Inkigayo, which airs every Sunday at 3:35 PM. Consequently, both MBC and SBS will have music programs airing on the same day, coinciding with significant political events.

The December 15 episode of Show! Music Core will feature performances from artists including Irene, TWICE, Jang Min-ho, WayV, CRAVITY, TREASURE, Lee Myung-hwa, A.C.E, CLASS:y, TO1, Now or Never, NEX7, Bad Villain, Izna, Yoon Soo-hyun, and Primrose. Following this, Inkigayo will showcase performances from Irene, TWICE, CRAVITY, TREASURE, Beomjin, Big Ocean, Primrose, Han Ga-bin, JUSIK, Yang Ji-eun, Day Child, A.C.E, CLASS:y, MIAO, and Izna.

In related news, the impeachment motion against President Yoon was passed in the National Assembly on December 14, citing violations of constitutional principles such as popular sovereignty and the separation of powers, following his declaration of emergency martial law on December 3.
