MBC's '오늘N' Issues Apology for PD's Inappropriate Behavior

On January 2, 2025, MBC's '오늘N' issued an official apology regarding the inappropriate behavior and remarks made by a producer during a recent broadcast. The statement was released on the program's official website, expressing regret for causing concern among viewers.

The incident occurred during the '좋지 아니한가' segment aired on January 1, which featured the daily life of an elderly man living in a rural area. Following the broadcast, numerous viewers voiced their discontent over the producer's conduct. The production team acknowledged the seriousness of the situation, promptly reached out to the featured guest to apologize, and took immediate action to amend the video.

In their statement, the team expressed sincere apologies to any viewers who felt uncomfortable after watching the segment. They also committed to ensuring that such incidents do not happen again by exercising greater caution during filming and post-production processes.

The controversial segment highlighted the life of a grandfather residing in Pohang, North Gyeongsang Province, who had built three houses in a remote area. While the grandfather shared his experiences, the producer made dismissive comments, stating, 'I’m not at the age to appreciate a mud house yet,' and suggested he should focus on farming instead of playing the drums. Additionally, when offered homegrown mushrooms and chicken, the producer remarked that such items could be found in Seoul markets and expressed a preference for fried chicken, which shocked viewers.

Following the backlash, the program's viewer board saw a surge of complaints over the producer's attitude, leading to the suspension of the VOD broadcast and the issuance of the official apology.
