MBC Weathercaster Kim Ga-young Resigns Amid Controversy

Kim Ga-young, a weathercaster at MBC, has voluntarily stepped down from her role on the MBC radio program Good Morning FM with Tae. During the broadcast on February 4, host Tae announced that Kim had expressed her intention to leave the program following the previous day's episode. The production team accepted her decision after discussions with her. Reporter Min Ja-young will take over Kim's segment, 'Kkaeal News.' Tae expressed regret over the abrupt start of the show and emphasized the need to move forward energetically.

This development comes in the wake of the tragic passing of fellow weathercaster Oh Yoo-an-na, who joined MBC in May 2021 and died in September 2022. The news of her death was revealed in December 2022, leading to allegations of workplace bullying that she reportedly faced prior to her passing. Recently, details from her suicide note were published, and her family has filed a lawsuit against an MBC employee for damages, raising further concerns about the workplace environment.

Kim Ga-young has been implicated as one of the alleged perpetrators of the bullying, prompting a wave of demands for her resignation on the program's message board. Following internal discussions, the production team accepted her resignation. MBC has announced the formation of an investigative committee to uncover the truth behind Oh's death and the circumstances surrounding it.
