MBC University Song Festival Returns After 13 Years
The 'MBC University Song Festival' is making a comeback after a 13-year hiatus. Originally launched in 1977, this iconic platform has been a cradle for discovering new talent in the Korean music scene, embodying the dreams and passions of youth. The festival will return in 2025 under the new title '2025 University Song Festival - Ignite Youth'.
This long-awaited revival promises to reflect current music trends with a fresh and diverse format. It aims to break down genre and style barriers, providing a stage for young musicians to showcase their individuality and potential.
Notably, Kim Moon-ki, the main director known for his work on popular MBC music programs like King of Mask Singer (복면가왕), Show! Music Core (쇼! 음악중심), and the Gayo Daejeon (가요대제전), will lead the production. His extensive experience raises anticipation for a unique musical festival this time around.
Additionally, MBC has announced an open call for artists to participate in the '2025 University Song Festival' from today, June 27, until August 10. Any university or graduate student, regardless of nationality or age, who has a passion for singing is encouraged to apply. Details on how to apply can be found on MBC's official social media channels.
The production team expressed their commitment to finding songs that resonate with youth and echo beyond the campus, inviting hidden gem musicians from across the nation to participate.
