MBC University Song Festival Makes a Comeback After 13 Years

The MBC University Song Festival (MBC 대학가요제) is set to return after a 13-year hiatus, re-emerging as '2025 University Song Festival - Ignite Youth' in the latter half of 2025. Since its inception in 1977, this festival has been a pivotal platform in the Korean music scene, nurturing new talent and embodying the dreams and passions of youth.
This revival promises to reflect current music trends with a fresh and diverse format, breaking down genre barriers and allowing young musicians to showcase their individuality and potential. Notably, Kim Moon-ki, the main director known for his work on popular MBC music programs like King of Mask Singer (복면가왕), Show! Music Core (쇼! 음악중심), and the Gayo Daejeon (가요대제전), will lead the production, raising anticipation for a unique musical festival experience.
Starting today, MBC is accepting applications for artists to participate in the 2025 University Song Festival until August 10. Any university or graduate student, regardless of nationality or age, who has a passion for singing is encouraged to apply. Details on how to apply can be found on MBC's official social media channels.
The production team expressed their commitment to discovering songs of youth that resonate beyond campuses, inviting hidden gem musicians from across the nation to participate and share their talents.
