MBC Dominates Ratings During Lunar New Year Holiday

During the recent Lunar New Year holiday, MBC achieved the highest ratings in key time slots. According to Nielsen Korea, from January 28 to January 30, MBC recorded an average household rating of 4.1% and a 2049 rating of 1.6% in the Seoul metropolitan area.
On January 28, the first day of the holiday, MBC aired a series of programs including 설특집 시골마을 이장우 (Special Country Village with Lee Jang-woo), MBC 뉴스데스크 (MBC News Desk), and the 2024 MBC 방송연예대상 (2024 MBC Entertainment Awards), capturing viewers' attention. Notably, the first part of the 2024 MBC 방송연예대상 achieved a 5.3% rating, making it the top entertainment program of the day. In terms of the crucial 2049 demographic, both parts of the awards show scored 2.3%, ranking first among all programs aired that day.
On January 29, MBC aired 손석희의 질문들 (Questions from Son Seok-hee), which returned for its regular season after six months, receiving positive feedback from viewers. The episode featured a discussion between Daegu Mayor Hong Joon-pyo and writer Yoo Si-min, generating significant anticipation. It recorded a 2049 rating of 3.2%, making it the top program in its time slot, with nationwide and Seoul metropolitan ratings of 8.6% and 8.3%, respectively, ranking first among non-drama and non-movie programs.
MBC's strong performance was further highlighted by five of its programs, including 손석희의 질문들, MBC 뉴스데스크, 2024 MBC 방송연예대상, 구해줘! 홈즈 (Save Me! Homes), and 라디오스타 (Radio Star), making it into the top 10 ratings during the holiday period. Among these, 손석희의 질문들 and MBC 뉴스데스크 ranked second and third, respectively, in the ratings for the top 10 programs.
