MBC and SM Entertainment Join Forces for Virtual Industry Development

MBC and SM Entertainment have officially partnered to advance the virtual industry within the media and content sectors. On December 11, the two companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aimed at fostering collaboration in this innovative field. The signing ceremony was attended by key figures including MBC CEO Ahn Hyung-jun, SM Entertainment CEO Tak Young-jun, MBC Entertainment Division Head Jeon Jin-soo, SM's Chief Creative Officer Park Jun-young, and MBC's Virtual Content Business Task Force Head Noh Si-yong.
This collaboration brings together MBC, a global media group focused on content, and SM Entertainment, a pioneer in K-POP, to work towards the development of the virtual industry. They plan to leverage the intellectual property (IP) of the virtual artist NAEVIS to create content that meets their shared goals and achieves sustainable outcomes. Future collaborations will include NAEVIS's appearances on MBC's music program Show! Music Core (쇼! 음악중심) among other initiatives.
Ahn Hyung-jun expressed optimism about the partnership, stating, "Through our collaboration, we aim to create content utilizing NAEVIS's IP and foster a healthy virtual ecosystem, allowing both companies to grow together and expand into the global market."
Tak Young-jun echoed this sentiment, highlighting the potential for their joint efforts to set new benchmarks in the virtual entertainment sector, similar to their past successes in broadcasting and entertainment.
This strategic alliance is expected to position MBC and SM Entertainment as leaders in the development of the virtual industry in South Korea, marking a significant milestone in the country's entertainment technology landscape.
