Major Broadcast Disruptions Due to Emergency Declaration in South Korea

Due to the recent declaration and subsequent lifting of a state of emergency in South Korea, major broadcasting networks are experiencing significant disruptions. On December 7, MBC's Friday-Saturday drama '지금 거신 전화는' (Call Your Mother) will not air, following a news special that interrupted its previous episode on December 6. Additionally, popular variety shows such as '쇼! 음악중심' (Show! Music Core), '놀면 뭐하니?' (What Do You Do When You Play?), and '전지적 참견 시점' (Knowing Bros) have also been removed from the schedule for the week.
SBS's '열혈사제2' (The Fiery Priest 2) aired its ninth episode the day before, but the tenth episode will be replaced by a news special. KBS is currently broadcasting a news special on its first channel, while its second channel continues with regular programming, including '불후의 명곡' (Immortal Songs), '살림하는 남자들 시즌2' (Mr. House Husband Season 2), and '나라는 가수 인 독일' (I Am a Singer in Germany).
Cable channels are also adjusting their schedules to accommodate news specials. MBN's '가보자GO 시즌3' (Let's Go Season 3) and '속풀이쇼 동치미' (Soothing Show Dongchimi), along with Channel A's '요즘 육아 금쪽같은 내 새끼' (My Precious Child) and the weekend drama '결혼해YOU' (Marry You), will not air. JTBC's '아는 형님' (Knowing Brothers) and the weekend drama '옥씨부인전' (Lady Oksun) will return to viewers next week.
President Yoon Suk-yeol declared a state of emergency during a national address on December 3, but lifted it just six hours later in response to demands from the National Assembly. In a follow-up address on December 7, he expressed regret for causing public anxiety and inconvenience, stating, "The declaration was made out of urgency as the president, who bears ultimate responsibility for governance. I sincerely apologize to the citizens who were startled by this situation." He also assured that he would not evade legal or political responsibilities related to the emergency declaration, emphasizing that such a situation would not occur again. The National Assembly is set to hold a session on December 7 to vote on a motion for impeachment against President Yoon.
